8 years of managerial experience, Ieva's dossier is the past. The Kaunian chose to retrain in the IT field and start all over again. In this post, an alumnus of data analytics training will talk about her path to a new job position in the company UAB "Cencora" link.

What is your professional path before training? Briefly tell us why you decided to retrain.
Having started my career as a contact center specialist during my studies, I quickly rose to the position of team leader. Since then, I have held one type of leadership position or another for about 8 years. I have spent most of my career in leadership roles working with money crime prevention and banking services.

I've been fascinated by data for as long as I can remember, but when my career took a different direction, I was always afraid to start over. Finally, observing myself and as always prioritizing analytical tasks, and observing how technology and the world were changing, I finally decided to start my career in data.

How did you choose your chosen training program and why Vilnius Coding School?
"Vilnius Coding School" was the school I heard the most about, and the specific program was helped by several friends who were already alumni of the school. Also, since I was not working at the time, I decided to use the excellent opportunity to finance the training with the help of the Employment Service. It also contributed to my choice of this school and this particular program.

How did the training go? What knowledge and skills have you acquired?
The training program consisted of SQL, Power BI and Python parts. I believe that mastering these basics was not bad. I liked Python the most, I hope to practice this language the most in my new position. I believe that the training went well and was interesting only with the help of excellent lecturers. I was impressed by both their patience and their ability to find 101 different ways to answer the same question.

How did the search for the company go? Was it difficult?
I think I was very lucky - the interview with Cencora was the first interview I had when looking for a new position and apparently the stars aligned in such a way that they liked me and they liked me very much. Therefore, overall, I found a new position quite quickly. However, during the search period, I can truly say that as candidates we must make a special effort to show ourselves and find what makes us stand out as individuals and what we can offer to a specific company. Many positions are looking for already tangible - 1-2 years of experience, and the competition both in general and among more jUnior of employees is really very large.

What advice would you give to people who dream of changing careers, but do not dare for various reasons (thinking that it is too late to change something, that they will be too weak for IT companies, etc.)?
As Nike - Just Do It. Especially for those who hesitate that it's too late - I was also hesitant, but let's not underestimate how many skills and especially soft ones we have acquired from our past experiences. Coding can be taught a lot, but collaboration, communication, and problem solving skills come only with experience. I sincerely believe that the strongest candidates are those who already have soft skills.
